Our History

Founded in 1906, Standard Equipment Company is a privately owned Corporation, incorporated under the laws of the State of Alabama. Our Company was originally established to distribute supplies and equipment to the railroad and sawmill industries. As South Alabama grew, so did Standard Equipment Company.

Our customer base expanded to service the industrial , construction, and marine businesses that were developing along the coast.

At this time, we became a major supplier of marine closures, water-tight doors, hatches, port lights, etc., for ship builders, municipal water treatment facilities and contractors nationwide.

We offer a large variety of closures in stock and have the capability to manufacture these items to individual specifications.

Along with made to order closures, we offer pumps, compressors, and blowers specially designed and fabricated in our shop for the marine industry.

Today, Standard Equipment Company employs a professional outside sales team, actively calling on customers within a two hundred mile radius of Mobile. Our inside sales team uses telemarketing, direct mail, the Thomas Register and the internet to offer our products and services throughout the US and Canada.
